James Watson: An American biologist man who has a research about the DNA. For me, James Watson at first was a bit weird guy because of the way he stared and looked at people around him. He is a mysterious guy and a bit naughty to the ladies he has seen. As one of the character said, he is the â€Å"boy-wonderer†. He is also a very eager to know the research and very observant. Francis Crick: He does the same research with Watson, they are both teammates. He is also eager to know what is in DNA and the relationship of it with the double-helix. Rosalind Franklin: A French woman who do the same research as Watson and Crick. She is sensitive and wishes to work without the help of Watson and Crick. Maurice Wilkins: I thought he wasn’t important in the presentation. Compare the research approaches/ styles/ attitudes of Watson and Crick with those of Franklin. The research style of Watson and Crick is way different than Franklin. The two gentlemen are more in an observing style. They usually go together and explore the facts that they have and try to talk with other people. They also observe and ask some people who know their study and try to figure out of the outcome. They do experimentations and read some books to create an answer to the problem. While Franklin, she is more of a silent worker. She does her own research without the help of Watson and Crick, but with her assistants. She is usually in the laboratory to do experimentations and studies well the object which has DNA. She is more focused on the research than the two men. Do you think Franklin should have shared her information more freely with the others? Do you think she should have worked more closely with Wilkins? Why? Why not? For my opinion, yes, she should have shared her information more freely with the others. Also yes, she should have worked more closely with Wilkins so that they could share their thoughts and ideas of how the DNA works. It is easier to come up with an answer from the person who knows the study well. And I think, if they both do the research, they could possibly be the one who will win the Noble Prize. Do you think Watson may have had a valid point when he told Rosalind that a â€Å"fresh look† at her work may be what was needed? It could possibly be yes. Because he has his own reason unto what he means of it. What important relationship between DNA nucleotides did Watson and Crick discover? What methods did they use to accomplish this? Watson and Crick have discovered the DNA nucleotides in the model they constructed. The DNA takes the shape of a spiral staircase (double helix,), with the steps composed of pairs of molecules known as bases, and the formed by chains of sugar and phosphate molecules. Because the same types of bases always pair together (adenine with thymine, guanine with cytosine), one half of the DNA staircase (the sequence of bases attached to either sugar-phosphate chain) contains enough information to reproduce the entire structure (the basis for biological reproduction). Moreover, the sequence of bases along the sugar-phosphate chain makes up a code of genetic information. An alphabet of only four letters, A, T, G, C (the initial letters of the names of the bases), produces enough variations in genetic information to account for the great diversity of all living things, including human beings. When Franklin finally had the opportunity to look at the DNA double-helix model constructed by Watson Crick, what was her response? He is one of the awardees of the Noble Prize. Francis Crick: Similar with Watson, Crick is also eager to finish the study as soon as possible. He is also one of the awardees of the Noble Prize. Rosalind Franklin: She wanted to do the research on her own. She studies alone and makes it well. She also contributed to the discovering of the double helix but kept the study herself. Maurice Wilkins: He is one of the awardees of the Noble Prize. And he also contributed his previous researches to Watson and Crick. Why this movie is called â€Å"Race for the Double-Helix†? Do you think scientific research should be a race? Why? Why not? In my opinion on why was the movie called â€Å"Race for the Double-Helix†, because at the middle of the presentation, although Franklin and Wilkins find it difficult to work together, the possibility of their collaboration heats up the race to discovery, as Watson and Crick see it. Watson and Crick knew that there was someone who is also doing the discovering for the Double-Helix, the American chemist Linus Pauling, whom is closing in on a solution. They tried to hurry and do the research as fast as they can. It is also because they wanted to have an award of Noble Prize. Who was awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of DNA structure? The awardees of Noble Prize for the discovery of DNA structure are Francis Crick, James Watson, and Maurice Wilkins. In your opinion, were the Nobel Prize awarded fairly? Why? Why not? In my opinion, yes the Nobel Prize were awarded fairly, because these tree gentlemen, Francis Crick, James Watson, and Maurice Wilkins, made their  efforts and have responsibilities when they were doing the research. They took time and religiously finished the study with the answers given. In the case of Rosalind Franklin, she was not considered for that prize because the rules require that recipients be living at the time of the award, and Franklin had died five years after the discovery of the structure of DNA because of cancer. Which person do you think played the most important role in the discovery of DNA structure? Explain your answer. In my opinion, all of the important characters made their efforts for the discovery of the structure of the DNA, but Watson and Crick made lots of studies in doing the research. They tried to consult the important people, interviewed persons and even contacted Franklin on their study. Which person do you think played the least important role in the discovery of DNA structure? Explain your answer. In my opinion, Rosalind Franklin has the least important role in the discovery of DNA structure in overall basis. She somehow got the same results as Watson and Crick, but she refused to do it together with the gentlemen. It just goes to show that she doesn’t want to have, if alive on the awarding ceremony, the same award as the three gentlemen have. The presentation may have aired or broadcasted without the help of Franklin, as what I have observed. Which character did you like the best? Why? For me, James Watson has the best character. It is because if he wants to do something he wants to have, he directly solve for it and not just wait for other people to make it for him. He is the type of one-word man and seriously makes a solution to the problem. Though he may be a bit boring on the first parts of the presentation, at the later part, he somewhat changed and turned to be the main character in the presentation. Which character did you like the least? Why? In my opinion, the least character would probably be J. Randall, Franklin’s lab partner. He did not tell Franklin to work together with Watson, Crick and Wilkins. If he tried a bit more, she may want to collaborate with the men, and the solutions would be easier. Randall should be talking more about why Franklin should join with the gentlemen. What did you learn from the movie that you didnt previously know? I learned that there are really answers to every thought that we think of. It may take time to solve it but if an individual wants to prove something, he/she will surely get the answers wholly. For instance, in solving difficult mathematical equations, it may be hard to solve it without patience and perseverance, but with hard work, nothing is impossible. And as a result you’ll be amazed of what you have done along the way. It may bring you to something greater achievements.

More accountability and ethical awareness needs to be instilled in the individuals who deceitfully structure financial transactions. Regulatory bodies need to ensure more transparency by closing loopholes and better enforcement of accounting standards. Audit committees, need to be sure that a company is communicating the true economic reality of the financial transactions and financial position of the business entity. Off-balance-sheet financing is one of the most significant ways, among others, that the user of financial statements can be misled. It is time for regulatory bodies to eliminate overly rules-based standards, clearly state the economic objective of each standard, and require firms to disclose the economic motivations for the accounting practices they adopt. While making judgment accountants need to be cautious and prudent. Accounting transactions and other events are sometimes uncertain but in order to be relevant it should be reported in time. Accountants have to make estimates requiring judgment to counter the uncertainty. Prudence is a key accounting principle which makes sure that assets and income are not overstated and liabilities and expenses are not understated. The bottom-line for all of these is to have good corporate governance. As defined by Robert M. Bushman, corporate governance structures serve: 1) to ensure that minority shareholders receive reliable information about the value of firms and that a company’s managers and large shareholders do not cheat them out of the value of their investments, and 2) to motivate managers to maximize firm value instead of pursuing personal objectives. I believe that all of the things I have mentioned are some of the keys that can help me as a future accountant in dealing the reality and to get out of all the doubts against the accounting profession.

Students should understand that there is still some hope to succeed in the chosen sphere, and mutual efforts and ideas should be implemented within the shortest period of time. It is necessary to inform all people involved into the science and math curriculum about the challenges appeared and to think about some other ways to continue educate students. The only right decision that should be made is personal awareness of the conditions under which people have to work. One of t he possible ways out is to rely on deposits possible and continue financing the curriculum only under more strict conditions. Parents may be also involved into this activity so that their children may continue education in accordance with their demands and knowledge. One of the most important steps to be taken is the development of good relations with parents. Parents are those who make decisions and may influence the educational process. Placement of Spanish Adverbs As a general rule, Spanish adverbs  and adverbial phrases  are placed near the word they modify, generally right before or after. English is more flexible in this regard- it is common in English to see an adverb placed further away from the word it modifies, often tacked on the end. Examples of Adverbial Placement Note, for example, the differences in these two equivalent sentences: Aprobà ³ facilmente el examen de geometrà ­a euclidiana.She passed the Euclidian geometry test easily. In Spanish the adverb, facilmente, comes immediately after the verb, aprobà ³. In English, however, easily comes at the end of the sentence, with four words coming between it and the verb. Although it would be possible to place easily immediately before passed, it also would be acceptable to place an additional description after test and still keep easily at the end. In Spanish, it is possible to place the adverb after the object of a verb, but only if the object is made up of just a word or two. For example, either of these sentences would be an acceptable translation for The county issued two licenses previously: El condado emitià ³ dos licencias previamente.El condado emitià ³ previamente dos licencias. Emitià ³ here is the verb in the sentence, and previamente is the adverb. Previamente couldnt be placed at the end if licensias were followed by a description. For example, if the sentence were talking about business licenses, licencias de empresa, previamente would have to be placed next to emitià ³: El condado emitià ³ previamente dos licensias de empresa. If many words had followed the verb, the adverb would not be able to used at the end. An example using a variation on the last sentence would be: El condado emitià ³ previamente dos licencias de matrimonio para parejas jovenes.  The adverb previamente has to go close to the verb emitià ³. Otherwise, native speakers would not immediately connect the meaning of the adverb with the verb. Before or After the Word Being Modified? Depending on how the adverb is used, it can be placed before or after the word being modified. For example, is the adverb modifying a verb, another adverb, or an adjective? The type of word being modified usually determines where the adverb is placed in the sentence. Usually, an adverb that modifies a verb is placed after the verb. For example, The economy is based principally on three businesses, is translated as,  La economà ­a se basa principalmente en tres empresas.  Basa is the verb and principalmente is the adverb. Adverbs of Negation Exceptions to this rule are adverbs of negation such as no  or nunca, meaning no or never. Negating adverbs always precede the verb. For example, No quiero ir al cine, means,  I dont want to go to the movies. The adverb, no, comes before the verb, quiero.  Another example,  Marà ­a nunca habla de su vida personal, means, Marà ­a never talks about her personal life. The placement of the adverb is exactly the same as in English. The adverb, never or nunca, goes immediately before the verb, talks or habla. Modifying Another Adverb An adverb that modifies another adverb comes before the adverb being modified. For  example,  Pueden moverse tan rpidamente como la luz, means,They can move as quick as light. The literal translation of the sentence is, They can move really fast like the light. Tan, meaning really, is modifying  rpidamente, meaning,fast. Adverbs Modifying Adjectives An adverb that modifies an adjective comes before the adjective. Estoy muy contento, means, I am very happy.  Muy is an adverb that means, very, and contento is the adjective, meaning happy.   Adverbs Modifying an Entire Sentence An adverb that modifies an entire sentence often comes at the beginning of the sentence, but there is some flexibility, and it can be  placed in different spots in the sentence. For example, take a look at the sentence, Possibly, Sharon will postpone her trip.
