Anti Capitalism And Its Impact On Modern Society Essay
Introduction From a few centuries ago, to today, there have been many major and minor anti-capitalism protests. Karl Marx and his concept of communism was an earlier anti-capitalist idea that he wanted to start a revolution with. In more modern times, there has been anti-capitalist movements like Occupy (with popular ones such as Occupy Wall Street). After Wall Street and most of the other places became unoccupied, it also seemed like anti-capitalism was over. Examples revolving around the current USA presidential election show otherwise. Depending on the results, anti-capitalism might be at the headlines of newspapers around the world once again. In this paper, I will be arguing that I think anti-capitalism protests in any form are not dead, and we might some more large ones soon. Communism to Occupy A modern, academic definition of: Capitalism is an economic system characterized by comprehensive private property, free-market pricing, and the absence of coercion (Sternberg, 2015). It is a right-wing political system that is popular throughout the modern world. An anti-capitalist movement is one that opposes capitalism and what it promotes. An early anti-capitalist movement is communism, founded by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, which is discussed in their book: The Communist Manifesto.
